2017 Global Peace Concert ‘ONE K’ To Rock Manila

The One K Global Campaign was formally launched at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City last August 16, 2016 as part of the Korean Unification movement with hopes of contributing to the larger effort of advancing regional peace and global security.

The beginning of this campaign was the start of "A New Era Unification Song Campaign" led by Action for Korea United (AKU) in 2015. It has spread a yearning for Korean reunification and a strong desire for "One Korea." The Campaign kicked off with highly publicized events in the USA and Japan, along with a One K K-Pop concert at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in South Korea, which reached millions of people across the globe.

The theme song, "One Dream One Korea," has gained millions of views on the internet from worldwide K-pop fans across more than 220 countries.

The One K Global Campaign Organizing Committee now aims to further expand this message by embarking on a global-scale campaign with another landmark song akin to "We Are the World," a 1985 recording performed by legendary pop star Michael Jackson and other leading artists from the USA to prepare a charity fund for refugees from Africa.

The idea came after American pop producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis had announced “We will make the Korean version ‘We Are the World’” at the United Nations General Assembly Hall.  Since then, other artists including Peabo Bryson had also expressed their intention to participate voluntarily.

In the same spirit as “We Are the World,” AKU believes that songs can have a significant impact on the world, influencing minds and hearts to bring about cooperation and harmony among differences.

The Philippines will be the first to host a series of global tours for the campaign with this upcoming song as the theme. Like South Korea, the country understands the importance of peace given its own experience of colonization and regional tension with neighboring powers. The strong ties and similarities between the two nations make the Philippines a partner of hope for Korean reunification and world peace.

After the Philippines, the global tour will happen next in the United States, India, Japan, and 10 other countries.

PSY is Back & Very Drunk with His Hangover MV feat. Snoop Dogg (Video)

Almost two years after the success of Gangnam Style and Gentleman, Korean singing sensation
PSY is back in a "splendid collaboration" with American rapper Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion).

Hangover, debuting online on Sunday, opens with a shot of Psy vomiting into a toilet before Snoop Dogg emerges from a bathtub behind him. Snoop dances in the tub then exits while repeatedly slapping the very ill PSY on the back, reminding him that the party “ain’t over” as the track’s chorus reiterates again and again and again. The next scene opens with both of them prepping for another day of drinking fun and guaranteed well, hangover.

Fellow K-pop stars CL and G-Dragon, leaders of super-popular groups 2NE1 and BIGBANG respectively, also made an appearance in the colorful video. But the combination of PSY and Snoop alone is already a fun to watch: two well-dressed rappers getting drunk and crazy and chaotic in various Korean culture scenes, from the sauna to a convenience store and to karaoke bar. And one can notice that basically almost everything that happened in this video happens every single night during a regular drinking spree in Korea. By the end of the MV, it was also announced that PSY will be releasing a new single titled DADDY this summer.

To remind you, PSY reached international fame when his music video Gangnam Style hit the web. The MV currently holds the title of most watched video on YouTube, the first to surpass the 2 billion views. Given PSY's music history, surely the MV will soon be a smash hit...again.

Below is the full MV. Enjoy!

BIG BANG-2NE1 MVs Break 500M Youtube Views

As hallyu idols are overwhelmingly entering the foreign markets YG artists are showing off their overwhelming power worldwide through the music video market.

Big Bang has received a total of over 50 million views through music video of Blue, Fantastic Baby, Bad Boy in their 5th mini-album. According to YouTube the record received until April 25 for Blue is 19,280,000 views, Fantastic Baby received about 17,800,000 views, and Bad Boy received about 11,850,000 views. Considering that these music videos have only been released two months ago the number are quite astonishing. Also the first music video of the title song Blue broke through 10 million views within 10 days of its release.

2NE1 along with Big Bang is recording massive views of 40,350,000 through one music video I Am The Best released last year. The video has continuously been receiving one million views a day shortly after its release predicting its sensation. I Am The Best was awarded second place for Most Viewed Music Video and Top Favorited Video of the year in 2011 according to worldwide views. And recorded a total of over 1.6 million views in over two days also was placed in the top 10 most viewed in France, Hong Kong, Sweden, Taiwan and Mexico revealing their worldwide influence.

The information that was gathered at the time of Big Bang-2NE1 alone of various videos showed that total YouTube views have already broke through 500million. The total YouTube views last May recorded a total of 430 million views and if we included Big Bang’s 5th mini-album and 2NE1’s Lonely, I Am The Best then the total number of views will already swept beyond 500 million views.

Just as YouTube video site view proves their rising popularity beyond Korea reaching all over the world. Such result is possible through Big Bang and 2NE1’s musicianship that is acclaimed to be beyond idol’s limit and the fact that their music and performance videos have been recognized as worth noting by the worldwide music fans. The fact that YG’s music genre based off of hip hop is noted to be closest to the global trend has also played a large benefit as well.

Dara's Cameo role in KDrama My Love From The Star (Video)

2NE1's Dara recently trended in the Philippines and worldwide over announcement of her guest appearances on ABS-CBN shows A&A, Showtime and Pinoy Big Brother, in line with the promotion of her wildly popular girlgroup's All or Nothing concert here in Manila on May 17. But will the Kapamilya actress-turned-Korean superstar also make some social media noise as she cameo on the finale of today’s hit Korean romcom, My Love from the Star currently airing on GMA?

In the episode finale of MLFTS, Dara will be featured as one of the top celebrities walking on the red carpet for an important event. Of course, Steffi Cheon (played by Jun Ji Hyun) and Lucy Yoo (Yoo In Na) will be walking down that red carpet, too. While walking down from her car and smiling sweetly for the cameras, Dara appeared wearing an evening gown and a black hat. Fans and netizens who have seen the episode noted that she is wearing the signature fedora which she used while promoting their album Missing You. This is also the same hat she was caught sporting during her A&A guesting.

In Korea, Dara’s cameo drew much attention, as she had previously admitted in an interview that she's a huge fan of MLFTS. In the Philippines, the Kapuso tagalize Kdrama has been watched by many Filipinos for the past few weeks. So surely, her appearance on TV (even if it is not a show of her mother network) will excite Filipino fans once again... even if she didn't say anything! ^^

EXO’s Kris Asked for Contract Termination

Sina, a Chinese media source, earlier reported that EXO-M‘s Kris has asked his agency, SM Entertainment, for early termination of his exclusive contract.

Report from Sina says: Kris has filed a lawsuit to end his contract. There have been rumors since a month ago that Kris was going to end his contract. It is surprising and sad that a member will leave the group after two successful first years. His circumstances are similar to former Super Junior member Hangeng.

According to Sina's investigation, reasons why Kris wanted to terminate his contract are restriction of SM Town to family interaction and his position as the rapper of EXO-M. It was said the Kris has more other interests and loves to act. It was also said that in April, Kris started to become unhappy and not fit with the other members of the boy group.

Kris., real name Wu Yi Fan, was selected as a trainee in 2007 through SM Entertainment's Global Audition in Gwangzhou, China. He is currently the leader of EXO subgroup EXO-M.

A representative from SM Entertainment, on the other hand, told OSEN news, “We are currently looking into this situation and we are quite embarrassed. We are putting every effort into making sure EXO‘s activities are going well.

OSEN further reported that Kris hired a law firm to represent him in this contract termination.

JYJ, SuJu Members Enlisting in Military Service

Every year brings a new wave of K-pop male idols who enlist to fulfill their mandatory duty of two years in the military.  Below are a couple of big names who are definitely going to enlist this year, some who have already enlisted, and others who remain fuzzy, but are likely to go this year, if not, in early 2015.

JYJ's Jaejoong has revealed that he will be enlisting in the military this year after his drama, Triangle, which just started airing this May. His co-member, Junsu, was also rumored to be going to the military this year, but not much information has been given. JYJ will also be releasing an album in June, so it seems likely he will go near the very end of the year after promotions.

Shindong of Super Junior was also revealed to be preparing for his enlistment, which was originally set for March 31, but it appears he successfully postponed it to June.  Before then, he is busy with various variety programs and more! Sungmin, his fellow SuJu member, remains an enigma on the other hand.  It was revealed that Sungmin was waiting for his results from the Seoul Police Public Relations Unit, so it does seem likely he will be enlisting this year regardless.
