The annual 'Baeksang Arts Awards' recently held its 50th ceremony at
Kyunghee University Hall of Peace, honoring outstanding South Korean TV and film work. The prestigious awarding ceremony was hosted by Shin Dong Yup and Kim Ah Joong and was attended by top TV and film personalities.
During the awarding, Jun Ji Hyun, the female star from the hit rom-com Kdrama You Who Came From The
Stars (or My Love From the Star in the Philippines), received the grand prize award (Daesang) for TV category with
her role as Cheon Song Yi (Steffi Cheon).
During her thank you speech, Jun Ji Hyun
calls out her leading man Kim Soo Hyun, who is also among the audience.
To the delight of her fans, she said: "To the one who didn't go to the star but
stayed here on earth instead, Do Min Joon-shi, Soo Hyun-ah thank you
very much. Let's do this again!"
Surprised by the gesture, Kim Soo Hyun, smiled brightly, then laughed while clapping and then gave

Although he has worked with several actresses in numerous
dramas, My Love From The Star Kim SooHyun stated that he has no kissing
experience in real life at all.
The 26-year old actor revealed this in a recent fan meeting held in Japan, according to a report from the Korean Star Daily.
“Besides dramas or movies, I have never kissed
anyone before, so I have to depend on my imagination. By looking photos
or movies of people kissing, I’m able to learn and get an idea as to
whether or not I’m doing it right. In addition to this, the director
will probably film me in a way that the kissing scene will look
realistic.”, Kim Soohyun said.
Kim Soohyun’s recent drama, MLFTS is recently
becoming very popular. Not only did his CF offers increase, he also
received several offers in dramas and movies.
South Korean action-thriller flick Hwayi: A Monster Boy will get a American remake as a joint production between its original production company and an US-based one.
Lee Jun-dong, head of the 2013 movie's production company Now Film, recently met U.S.-based Spanish producer Frida Torresblanco
to discuss the co-production plans at the Cannes Film Festival.
Torresblanco has been behind such works as the 2006 Oscar-winning
fantasy Pan's Labyrinth.
In an interview, Lee revealed that he opted to co-produce the English-language version rather
than sell rights to a remake as U.S. adaptations of successful Korean
titles have often been disappointing.
Hwayi: A Monster Boy is a 2013 film about a
16-year-old boy of the same name who is raised by five criminal fathers
to become the perfect assassin. One day he is forced to commit a crime and sets out to discover the truth about his past.
Several Korean films have been remade by US production company in the past such as My Sassy Girl, Old Boy, Into the Mirror and The Lake House.
Following the success of their AON concert in the Philippines, famous Korean girl group 2NE1 will release a music video for their “Gotta Be You” on May 21 to celebrate their fifth anniversary since debut.
Gotta Be You comes from their album Crush,
which was released in February. The song is the second title track of their album, and was performed live a few times.Previously from this album, music
videos for HAPPY and the title track Come Back Home were released.
The four-member girl group was formed by YG Entertainment in 2009. The name, pronounced to anyone or twenty one, combines the phrases "21st century" and "new evolution. Known for a unique and edgier style, the quartet consists of CL, Minzy, Dara, and Bom.
2NE1's Dara recently trended in the Philippines and worldwide over announcement of her guest appearances on ABS-CBN shows A&A, Showtime and Pinoy Big
Brother, in line with the promotion of her wildly popular girlgroup's All or Nothing concert here in Manila on May 17. But will the Kapamilya actress-turned-Korean
superstar also make some social media noise as she cameo on the finale of today’s hit Korean romcom, My Love from the
Star currently airing on GMA?
In the episode finale of MLFTS, Dara will be featured as one of the top celebrities walking on the
red carpet for an important event. Of course, Steffi Cheon (played by Jun Ji Hyun)
and Lucy Yoo (Yoo In Na) will be walking down that red carpet, too. While walking down from her car and smiling
sweetly for the cameras, Dara appeared wearing an evening gown and a black
hat. Fans and netizens who have seen the episode noted that she
is wearing the signature fedora which she used while promoting their
album Missing You. This is also the same hat she was caught sporting during her A&A guesting.
In Korea, Dara’s cameo drew much attention, as she had
previously admitted in an interview that she's a huge fan of MLFTS. In the Philippines, the Kapuso tagalize Kdrama has been watched by many Filipinos for the past few weeks. So surely, her appearance on TV (even if it is not a show of her mother network) will excite Filipino fans once again... even if she didn't say anything! ^^

similar to former Super Junior member Hangeng.
According to Sina's investigation, reasons why Kris wanted to terminate his contract are restriction of SM Town to family interaction and his position as the rapper of EXO-M. It was said the Kris has more other interests and loves to act. It was also said that in April, Kris started to become unhappy and not fit with the other members of the boy group.
Kris., real name Wu Yi Fan, was selected as a trainee in 2007 through SM Entertainment's Global Audition in Gwangzhou, China. He is currently the leader of EXO subgroup EXO-M.

Every year brings a new wave of K-pop male idols who enlist to fulfill their mandatory duty of two years in
the military. Below are
a couple of big names who are definitely going to enlist this year,
some who have already enlisted, and others who remain fuzzy, but are
likely to go this year, if not, in early 2015.
JYJ's Jaejoong has revealed that he will be enlisting in the military this year after his drama, Triangle, which just started airing this May. His co-member, Junsu, was also rumored to be going to the military

he will go near the very end of the year after promotions.
Shindong of Super Junior was also revealed to be preparing for his enlistment,
which was originally set for March 31, but it appears he successfully
postponed it to June. Before then, he is busy with various variety
programs and more! Sungmin, his fellow SuJu member, remains an enigma on the other hand. It was revealed that Sungmin was waiting for his results from the Seoul Police Public Relations Unit, so it does seem likely he will be enlisting this year regardless.
Henry of Super Junior M is in Tacloban right now, volunteering for the Yolanda victims together with other Real Men castsZE:A's Park Hyungsik, Kim Soo Ro, Seo Kyung Suk, Sam Hammington and K.Will for their six-day-and-five-night training from May 5-10.

Following co-members Hyorin and Dasom in acting, Sistar’s Bora too is up to start her first acting career with SBS’s TV
drama Doctor Stranger.
The medical, melodrama tells the story of a skilled surgeon named Park Hoon, played byLee Jong Suk. After spending time in North Korea, Park Hoon escapes to South Korea, where he finds work at a university hospital. Here, he comes face to face to a huge conspiracy with Korea’s best elite doctor, Han Jae Joon, played by Park Hae Jin. The background of
this drama is based on Myungwoo Medical University where the conspiracy
surrounds Prime Minister, Jang Suk Joo, played byChun Ho Jin.
In the drama, Bora is set to play a North Korean defector Lee Chang Yi, who also finds herself
working in South Korea. They meet
when the main chracter goes to China in order to find his first love Song Jae Hee,
played by Jin Sae Yeon. Lee Chang Yi tries to save
money in any way possible in order to bring her mother to China from
North Korea. The viewers will be able to see a strange chemistry between
Lee Chang Yi and Park Hoon as they rely on each other for help. Her character soon takes a liking to the young
doctor.
With recent increase in K-pop idols acting in prime TV series and films, many of them proved to be good actors and actresses
as well. Will Bora exhibit a fantastic
acting ability as a rookie actress, given that speaking and acting in North Korean dialect is much difficulty for
many of the actresses and actors? In a press launch in April, Director Jin Hyukadmitted that he was a “big fan of Sistar” and joshed
that his motivation for casting the girl group rapper was somewhat
“selfish.”
Below are still cuts of Bora’s cameo in Doctor Stranger. It seems like Bora has completely transformed from glamorous, fancy and
sexy looks on stage performances to brave, calm and boyish looks.
Doctor Stranger will be airing every Monday and Tuesday nights. Don’t miss the first episode airing today, May 5!
